Get into the holiday spirit with Lexington Two performances, donation drives

WEST COLUMBIA, SC --  Let Lexington Two students help you get into the holiday spirit this season.


Several schools will offer musical performances, open to the community. You also can catch performances at several community tree lightings and other holiday events. Many schools also are holding charity donation drives to benefit those in need during the holidays.

Airport High School Chorus and Pine Ridge Middle School Chorus: Walk and sing carols, around downtown Columbia historic homes and Church of the Good Shepherd; 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cayce/West Columbia Holiday Parade of Lights:  Airport High School Band, Brookland-Cayce High School JROTC, Northside Middle, Saluda River Academy for the Arts Junior and Senior Dance Company will all perform, and Riverbank Elementary will have a float; 1006 12th Street, Cayce. Parade route down 12th Street from Cayce to West Columbia, 5:30 p.m.


Saluda River Academy for the Arts Bobcat Players: Performance at Riverbanks Zoo aquarium, 1 p.m.

Springdale Elementary Holiday Musical Review, ”Still A Cool Yule”; third and fifth grades will have two morning performances at times to be announced.

Congaree Elementary Christmas Sing-A-Long: 9 a.m.


HOLIDAY DRIVES


Several schools are holding holiday drives, and area businesses and residents are welcome to make donations, which will help those in need in the community. Here’s a sampling:


Riverbank Elementary food drive: Guidance counselors have organized a drive to collect canned goods and nonperishable food items for the Cayce Women’s Club. Donated items will be sent to Cayce City Hall on the day of its annual tree lighting on November 30. 


Airport High toy drive: The school is collecting new toys for ages 2-9, with plans to hold an event later in December to give away toys to community children. Toys will be accepted at Airport through December 6. Questions, email [email protected]

 
Saluda River Academy for the Arts book drive: The school’s Beta Club is sponsoring a book drive to donate to the Oliver Gospel Mission as a service project through the end of November.
